PURPOSE OF THE CODE OF CONDUCT
The TRC strives to maintain a safe environment encouraging positive and constructive communication amongst its members. To this end we ask that visitors and members observe a few simple rules of conduct that we feel create an environment conducive to achieving this result.
1) NO SEX, NUDITY, PROSTITUTION, OR PROPOSITIONING
There are many adult oriented venues in Second Life but the Transgender Resource Center is NOT one of them. Although you are encouraged to discuss topics related to sexual preference and gender identity such conversations must be consensual and for the purpose of mutual understanding and/or education and not to engender arousal. Propositioning other members or visitors and/or sexually explicit or obscene behavior is explicitly forbidden and will result in banning.
2) MUTUAL RESPECT REQUIRED
Although the TRC encourages visitors and members to tolerate divergent viewpoints, obscene or abusive language is not allowed. All communication amongst members and visitors should be both positive and constructive.
3) NO WEAPONS OR GRIEFING
Weapons may be displayed but not discharged on TRC grounds. Pushing, trapping, and other types of physical harassment will not be tolerated.
4) RULES ON SNAPSHOTS AND PHOTOGRAPHY
Before taking snapshots of TRC members you must first announce your intention to take a snapshot, the purpose for which the snapshot is being taken, and ask those in the shot if they mind being included. If they do not want to be in the snapshot you must respect this request.
5) CHILD AVATARS ARE PROHIBITED
Presenting as a child or interacting with others as if you were a child is prohibited. Generally, the TRC is not a venue for role-play but for discussion of issues related to the transgender experience. If you commonly present as a child avatar please understand that we do not take a position against this and, in fact, believe that it can be therapeutic. That said, please switch to an adult avatar when visiting the TRC since child avatars often make people uncomfortable speaking openly about topics related to gender identity and sexual preference. For more information on child-avatar safe PG venues in Second Life please contact Jani Myriam for more information.
6) RULES ON COUPLES BEHAVIOR
Couples are welcome to visit the TRC together but should not be overt in demonstrating affection or use custom pose balls or animation scripts. This extends to demonstrative BDSM behavior between members such as leashing but D/s members are always welcome as our members of all of Second Life's diverse subcultures!
7) CONCERNING THE USE OF THE TRANSGENDER RESOURCE CENTER AND DELTA SIGMA GROUP CHAT CHANNELS
When you send a message on the group chat channel the message will be received by all group members who are online at the time. To many people such unwanted chat is considered spam. As a result, please refrain from using the chat channel except for brief PG on-topic announcements. If you would like to address the group as a whole a much more effective way is to contact Jani Myriam or another TRC volunteer to send a group notice on your behalf. Group notices will be received by all members of the TRC group and not just those that are currently online. If a member unfamiliar with these rules begins a conversation in the group chat channel please ask them kindly to continue their conversation directly with other interested group members using the instant message or conference chat features of the Second Life client.
HOW TO REPORT A VIOLATION
Both visitors and members are encouraged to report violations of these rules to Jani Myriam or another volunteer so that appropriate measures can be taken to ensure compliance.
A NOTE ABOUT THE USE OF ALTS
If it becomes necessary to take corrective action against an individual found to be in violation of this code of conduct any other online identities associated with the individual may also be subject to corrective action.
